901 shifter springs.
I have stripped a 901 shifter, powder coated the base, new bushes, chromed the lever, looks great but.....
![]() Does any one have any tips for getting the 2 springs back on to the pins, tried everything I know, they just keep popping out. |

If it is anythng like the 915 shifter you can use 2 long thin screwdrivers inserted in the slots on the top plate and into the springs. This will keep the springs in line while you tighten the screws on the top plate.

Long screwdrivers through the spring and pull them back as you advance the pins.Helps to have another person to keep the springs from bowing. go slowly and make sure to wear eye protection
Good Luck |

Isn't this the operation that the factory suggests you modify a flat blade screwdriver for? I recall seeing the sketch for the tool in the factory workshop manual...
