A/C Console Switch Wiring - 1988 turbo
Just took apart my console to get the leather repaired and didn't look at this forum first (my bad). Ended up with the two green wires pulled off the a/c switch located in the console. The terminals are numbered 1 and 2. The wires are both Green, one with a white stripe. Does anyone know which goes where?
Also noticed the thermocouple wire insulation is brittle and missing in spots. Thinking of just re-wrapping it with some insul-tape when I re-install. To replace the wire looks like a major pain. Any other ideas. thx.. |
That isn't a wire and there isn't a thermocouple. That's a capillary tube carrying a liquid that expands and contacts as a function of the temperature within the cooling evaporator vanes/fins.
Have no idea about the wiring. |

As for the aluminum capillary tube, be very careful, as it is very easy to separate the tube from the switch. You can only re-sleeve it from the evaporator end. Here's the switch: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1322251366.jpg |
Thanks to you both. Just bought this car. It's my first 911 and I'm doing a few small things myself but a little nervous about it!
