Phillips 66 X/C Aviation 20W-50 oil
Has anyone used this oil in their Porsche 911?
Phillips 66 X/C Aviation 20W-50 oil ConocoPhillips Aviation - Phillips 66® X/C® 20W-50 This looks like a high-quality oil, and since I have some I thought I'd check and see if I can use it. My late father-in-law was a private pilot and owned quite a few planes over the years. I've found several quarts of this oil in his garage and hangar, and wanted to know if this oil would be good to carry in the car as top-off oil. If not, I'll drop by the airport and give it to his buddies. |

I should have done a bit more Internet research before posting this. Apparently Aviation oil is a no-no in automobiles. No detergents in av-oil, and auto engines run poorly with the stuff.
I guess I'll drop it off at the airport. I'd delete this thread, but don't see any way to do so. |

For what it's worth,i ran Aeroshell 50W motor oil, which was used mainly for helicopter engines in my 4 stroke street and race bikes in the late 80's without any issues !
Not sure about Porsche car applicatiions though ... Cheers ! Phil
