Turn signal problem
My left turn signals (front and back) no longer work. The right signals work fine. This is not a problem with the light bulb since it flashes ok when I turn the alarm on/off. The left signal dash larrow/indicator makes a buzzing sound. The right works fine. Could a problem with the dash indicator prevent the signal from working altogether? Could this be a relay problem? I tried to take the tachometer out of the dashboard and found out that the steering wheel would have to come off first. Hence, I hesitate to go through the removal if my chance of fixing the turn signal are slim.
Thanks. |
Doubt it is in the dash light.
On my 81 you can reach in from the driver's side front trunk into behind the dash (to the right of the brake master when facing it) and feel the relay clicking. It is the same relay on my 81 for the flashers and the turn signals. Try finding it with the flashers on. Not saying it is the relay but you need to know where it is. |
Interestingly enough, the flasher indicator on the tachometer is not the problem because it works when I put the emergency flashers on, but the buzzing noise definitely comes from behind there when I turn on the left signal.
Does anyone know what's behind the tachometer that could make such a noise? |

Mmmmh. I was looking at the wrong relay then. I mistakenly took the power window relay for the flasher. Thanks for clarifying!
