horn pad removal

Hello- I have a new-to-me 76 with the later 3 spoke wheel and horn pad. In 101 Projects and here on this forum it is said that the horn pad will pop off with finger pressure. Mine will not. Is it possible to pry it off? Where do you pry? Do you pad the pry tool contact points? What tool is best? Thanks for your answers.

Pull around the edges with your fingers and it pops off. There really isn't much to it. I took mine off last week.

Sometimes they are pretty tough to remove. Also, the plastic clips sometimes break (no way to avoid it) but they are replaceable.

Yep I pulled mine off last year and a couple of the clips broke - I glued them back together as the break was clean and the same for both and PRESTO ! All good !

I'm not sure exactly what kind you have but mine had three screws that went through the back of the steering wheel 'plate' that had to be removed first.
