Auto heat sensor in flapper box?
After having sorted my engine blower fan problem out I have noticed that the auto heat sensor, that I believe should be fitted into the left flapper box, has been tied up and taped to a point on the chassis. My flapper boxes look as though they have recently been replaced and I am trying to see how to fit the sensor to the left hand flapper box. There does not appear to be a hole in the flapper for the sensor to fit in to!! Do you have to make your own hole in new flapper boxes with a drill and then rivet the sensor to it? I can't see any other way to fit it?
Thanks Steve |
That heat sensor is riveted to a short metal duct that fits between the flapper box and the heater hose coming up from the heat exchanger. If noone posts a PET picture of it by the time I get home, I'll post it.

Thanks for the info and yes a pic would be very helpful please. Is the short piece of ducting still available to buy as if so I need to buy one and get this sensor fitted correctly.
Thanks Steve |
I believe the part is NLA.
It has a funny sounding name like canoodle valve. There was a gent from the UK looking for one recently and was trying to find a good replacement. I will try to find the thread and post it for you. EDIT--I can 't get the link to work. Do a search for "caloric feeler". |
ARRRGGGHHH. Stupid computer.

Thanks for all of the information and especially the pictures guys. It has all been a great help.
I have now placed an add in the for sale/wanted section on the forum to see if I can find one of these canoodle sleeves for my left hand flapper box and get the heating working as it was intended to. |
