Carerra Headlight Troubles - Bright works; Dim doesn't
Let me first apologize if the answer to this question is found somewhere else on this board; my computer recently died I am left to surf on my phone and combing through the older posts on it has proven to be difficult.
The problem: 89 Carerra drivers side dim light does not work, passenger side dim works, both brights work. History: About a year ago the drivers side dim bulb went out. I bought a new bulb and installed it (I can't remember if the dim bulb worked at that time or not but if it did it wasn't for long). The initial fix: The dim bulb started working one night after a hard acceleration in 1st to about redline. After that it just started working and has worked until last night. I have already tried the initial fix again (why not) and it did not work. The question is: what would cause the dim bulb to not work while the bright does on one side? |

bad bulb connection or ground. Make sure both are clean and tight.

I have a confession to make; one of which I am not particularly proud. Apparently the vast supply of knowledge and willingness to help that exists on this board has made me lazy. Instead of doing basic troubleshooting of a problem I can say, "I'll just ask the pelican forum, they'll know the answer right off!"
I am ashamed to admit that the headlight issue was solved by simply swapping the passenger and drivers bulbs. Passenger bulb worked on driver side. Problem solved - drivers side bulb burnt out Solution - buy new bulb Installed and everything works great. I will take this a a learning experience to rule out the simple stuff first. |
