How do I reduce a digital pic to less than 50K to post?

OK finally got a digital camera and took pics of the P-car. I tried to upload the pics onto the board but discovered the pics take up WAY too much space, and thus, cannot be uploaded. As a newbe to the digital camera, is there a way I can reduce the size of the pic to post them on the board? It's a Toshiba M65 camera. Thanks.

First check the settings on your camera. Lower settings mean fewer pixels. Also see the following thread: http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/Forum3/HTML/010938.html

In your camera's software, you can find out the size of the picture. It is usually under properties when you right click on the picture. Then you find the resize option, usually under the tools or image option.

It should have BOTH pixel/resolution size like 800x600 and file size....reduction of resolution will reduce file size and vice versa.

Of course setting the camera at the lowest setting will allow it to be posted easier, but reduces the ability to manipulate the picture when downloaded into the software.

you might also look at the type of file they are being saved as.
bitmaps (.bmp) are usually MUCH larger than JPEG (.jpg) or GIF (.gif) files.
