SC Front trunk lite no fit
just received a lite for the inside of the front trunk of an 83' SC, p/n 901 632 210 01 m100, and it does not fit...
p/n says it is for all 65-89, however, the lite is too big for the hole in the trunk & the cut-out hole on the underside of the front lid only has 1 screw hole to attach the lite... When I compare the lite to a 84' Carrera, it will fit perfectly...and the Carrera has 2 holes to mount the lite... What gives...?? Is their a discontinued lite that I need for the SC which attaches w/ 1 screw...?? Thx for any "lite" HA HA you can shed on this guys... Bob |
Bob,
This is no help, but 4 years ago when I got my car I had a bad trunk lite, and I had some problems with an OEM light. I can't remember now what I had to do to make it fit and work, but it wasn't a drop in replacement. I know I didn't make any adjustments to the sheet metal... I wish I could be more help at this late date. |
Thx Mitch for your info...
When I look at the bottom of the lite it appears that I need to insert the dog leg metal wire contact first, other wise the lite won't fit & then @ that point there seems no way the rest of the lit is going to fit... Huummmmmmmmmm...I will give this a closer inspection...maybe I need to cut off some of the plastic so it will fit possibly...?? Any one else have any tips...?? Thx in advance...Bob |
Bob,
I don't think my problem was with one or two mounting screws, it was more like your concern for the wire contact, I had to do some alterations to the lite to get it to fit. Something like 10 lbs of lite in a 5 lb. opening. If I remember right it was trying to give clearance to the electrical contact of the body sheet metal. |
Post pics when done. I don't have a light and dont even know what it is supposed to look like.
