I'm looking for the plastic part at the end of the central door-lock thingamajig, 1987 Carrera coupe...does anyone here have an extra they can spare? PM or email bluerex02@yahoo.com

That has been superseded by a completely plastic rod.
And it is real cheap...

Doubt they are the same size but back in the day I used to build a lot of 1/18 scale RC cars I remember using a lot of these and they look quite familiar.

I would guess they are close in size and these parts can be obtained in all sorts of sizes. If you cant find the part cheap or easy here go to your local hobby shop with it and see if they can match the size

$5.75 each.
The replacement is a glass fiber reinforced plastic piece so it will probably last more then 25 years.

I went to beeper locking and bought 3 newer plastic style 10 years ago [appx] to complete the install

Original still operating.
They look frail but in this case looks are deceiving for the most part
