How long does heat continue after pushing down lever?

I recently replaced the driver side heat hose (exchanger to flapper box) and now it seems like the heat stays on for a long time. I'm not sure if its even turning off. I may need to crawl back under there and see if I goofed something up.

Anyway, just curious how long the heat normally lasts after pushing the heater lever all the way down. It seems like my heat stays on but when I come to a stop, it nearly stops and then the car stays relatively cold. I've only had the car for a couple of months so I have no winter heat exchanger experience since my VW in the 70's.

It's a '74 with no heater blower motor.

Get under the car safely and ask a helper to raise and lower the levers.

When closed the flapper box will be open closing off the inlet inversely when open the flaps close allowing heat air to flow to the vents/foot well outlets.

To answer your question, immediate heat off when lever is down. You may just need to make some adjustments to the cable.

Thanks! That helps a lot.

Now, can I talk my friend into crawling under the car while I stay warm in the car :)
