I told her that major damage could occur to transmission and or motor from improper shifting. Now she hears me raving about how easy it shifts... She wants to know my excuse now? I'm doomed.

Hey, be happy that she shows enough interest in your Porshce that she wants to drive it!

Some of us have significant others that would rather ride in the daily driver SUV...

true story, my "old Porsche" was a 996...my wife didnt care much for it....but the "new one" (86') she actually really likes ?????

guess I picked a winner!

STILL, no way I am "teaching her to drive a clutch" with it!!!

Jack, you're right, she has had a vw bug years ago, she's driven the Porsche a couple times with me, getting into first was a real problem. Now she could do no problem.. I am glad she supports my love for the car. Ed, I hear ya my friend a Porsche isn't a good stick learner for anyone. Have a good one guys, p.s. Jack you've had around 20 Porsches in your life, WOW!! I'm only on my second in 25 years, got some catching up to do.

On a more serious note, are there any downsides to Ed's bushings beyond making it easier for others to drive? NVH? Or ?????

downsides:
reports of increased noise
requires more accurate adjustment, may take several tries to get right
long term effects are unknown - longest tested car is 2 years

this "idea" is not new, people have been puttinig round bushings in for years, they used to make them out of brass or aluminum even.....delrin is an amazing plastic for this application because it can hold toloerences like metal and yet requires no lubrication

sevice life, unknown

one report of a missing car

just being honest and open

other please do the same

Well, fellas... I had the pleasure of meeting up with Ed in person last week over beer to purchase his bushings. I was in his neck of the woods on a business trip and thought I'd save the trouble of a trip to the post office. Let me tell you that he is a stand-up guy and a wealth of information.

Got home from my business trip and installed the new coupler. Took a couple of tries to get it aligned just right, but man oh man! What a difference! It's like buttah now.

THANKS, ED!!!

PS - Ed, the old one is going out tomorrow.
