Porsche Engine Oil Analysis Recommendations

I would like to take an engine oil sample and send it to a reputable place familiar with Porsche engines for oil analysis. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place to send this to?

Yessir,.......Staveley Labs is excellent.

Look here for a location: ALS Tribology | Tribology Laboratory Testing | Tribology Home and Locations

I've found Blackstone Labs does an excellent job and is very convenient. I know many other Pelicans use them too.

Stick with Staveleys......ask me how I know.

You may have to buy the "kit" vs. Blackstone's approach to singular samples.

My personal testing of these 2 labs (by sending in identical virgin oil samples to each on multiple occasions0 resulted in different lab results (albeit small differences). A confirmation testing sample was compared to a 3rd Lab. 3rd lab provided the same result as Staveleys, both on the VOA and UOA.

So: Staveley's for me.

Doyle

I do think these labss testing protocols are not the same

Nobody posted prices for testing as that could help differentiate choices.

I use this kit.
AMSOIL - Oil Analysis Kits
It costs $32 for a pre-paid mailing envelope.

The company that does the analysis is Horizon.
All of my oil reports are available online and I can compare samples easily.

I can post a copy of a test report if you want to see what the results look like.

Blackstone is $25 for the basic, add $10 if you want to see how your additive package held up. -you pay postage - kits are free for the asking.
Blackstone been good for me. If they don't perform to some people's standards for virgin analysis, I figure at the very minimum I have a solid base line to measure the succeeding tests by. - not just the P-cars - I'm monitoring 3 others as well. Bill K

the value in oil analysis is in the comparison of repeated samples
