Are all clutch cables the same?

I am in the final stages of getting my car back on the road after an engine drop, and have made it to the clutch cable adjustment. Thing is, I am having absolutely no luck getting the 25mm of cable movement that Bentley states is the properly adjustment measurement. I am getting maybe 13mm at best. Now it seems as though I can go through the gears with that little amount of cable movement, but I am concerned I am going to cause undo wear on parts because it's not "throwing out" far enough.

On top of that, I've read on here that there are different brands of clutch cables, but only one is actually good. For the cable I need--the hooked end one--Pelican only offers one brand and option: Gemo. The one with "Made in Germany" on the Bowden tube. It's $75. Weird thing is, the Gemo with "Made in Germany" is the one I believe Grady said is the one to absolutely avoid. So if this isn't the one to get, what is?

Also, could my inability to get 25mm of movement in my cable have anything to do with the car being a 1974, yet updated to newer clutch helper arms to accept the hooked end, and the distance quoted in Bentley only refers to an SC? Is the distance from clutch pedal to clutch helper arm the same from a 74 to an SC?

Thanks guys, I am so close to getting this car moving again!

This may very well be your problem. There are differences in the pedal clusters from year-to-year. More specifically, the angle of the pivot arm from the clutch pedal varies (and hence the throw of the arm varies). I found this out the hard way on my '76 and have the same issue on my '74. I noticed the difference by digging through a pile of pedal clusters at a local parts dismantler.

The Bentley is referring to 915's with the omega spring.
Yours should be 15mm.

Yeah, that's the thing, I have an omega spring. My car is a 1974 on paper only. Every part has been changed, updated or is otherwise different than a normal 74. It does have the original mag case transmission though. But 15mm travel is the most I'm getting. I guess if it's disengaging the clutch, is that all I need to ask for?

It is not your pedal cluster. I have installed a 1986 tranny in my 1973 and it works perfectly with the 1973 pedal cluster.
I would think the problem is with the clutch cable length. You say you have the original mag case tranny that was fitted with a later style arm with omega spring. Picture of the arm and cable mount would help.
Early and later transmission need different cables. In the pictures I've attached you can see the difference between my 1973 and 1986 transmissions.
Is the later cable mount on your transmission.
