Oil Return Tube kit

My totally dry 911sc sprung an oil leak a few weeks ago. It appears to be the left side front Oil Return tube. It doesn't leak unless the car sits for about 24 hours and then it develops quite a puddle. Anyhow looking at it and reading the 101 projects book do we have to remove the heat exchanger and or catalytic converter to get to the front tube? I am using the collapsible style that are found here at Pelican not the oem. Is there any special tools needed to remove the heat exchanger?

posting the year of your car always helps. 78-79 SC with the air injection setup requires left exchanger off and the air tubing dropped down. 1980 and later left side front tube replacement requires that the rear tube come out 1st in order to get to the front one, (if you don't want to drop the exchanger), so order two. get the gold steel ones and use dow 111 silicone paste, not oil, to lube the o-rings.

I just had my mechanic do this to my car. It had a very minor leak so I had him replaced all 4. The passenger side is harder to do than the drivers side. I dont like leaky 911's so it was the best $250.00 I ever spent.

I did a replacement of the left side oil tubes. Follow the link, it may help you out.

John Walker's recommendation is good, of course. When I did mine I used a hose clamp on each piece, close together and inserted a slotted driver between the clamp knuckles, gave a twist and they spread into place. If you need better explaination let me know.
