Power window issue

My 86 driver's door PW is acting up. If I make the mistake of running the window all the way down, 1 out 10 times it will not go back up until the 99th try. If however I lower it say 3/4 of the way, I can lower it the last bit then quickly reverse the switch and no problem, up it goes-everytime! Switch issue or perhaps a dead spot on the armature? Thanks

been there.
swap switches first and see if that fixes it--if so, buy another. If not, buy another motor.

Ditto on swap switches! Take one off another window and place it on the one malfunctioning and put the malfunctioning one on the other window. In my case I put the malfunctioning one on the driver's side for the passenger window and it stopped malfunctioning. That was a few years ago. I had to replace the others eventually but the motors are still working strong (knocking on wood right now ;-)

The switches pop off. Use a thin object to go under them between the leather and the switch, be careful not to cut the leather. It really is easier than you think. Make sure you have written down which connectors get which color wires.

+1 swap switches, clean contacts.

Thanks for the advice guys. Now that I have heat in my garage, play time will be that much easier.
