Leaky Front Windshield
 

My windshield is leaking on my 79 911 SC passenger side lower corner...I take it that it needs to be removed & resealed??

You might get by for a while using a silicon sealer or the like between the seal and the glass, but that would only be a stop gap. I've resealed the windshield on an SC and it isn't that hard. The factory method is fine. One note, when you take out the aluminum trim, be careful to keep it in the shape it was in when in the seal. Otherwise, it took about 4 hours to take out and reinstall. My then 13 year old son helped get it back in.

I put a new windshield seal on my '81sc. I had a really tough time(20 degree garage). If you do it - I've heard to get a factory Porsche seal. They are wider or bigger then the after market ones, and same price. It was hard - I'd pay someone to do it next time. I guess there is a real risk of breaking the windshield. That didn't happen to me - I was lucky.
If you do it though, do a search on lycos. Windshield replacement(porsche) there is an article there about it. Also do it in the sun on a warm day. Be Patient and careful of the metal trim.

I injected some 3M WindowWeld (#08633) into the seal with a cheap plastic syringe and a flattened plastic tip. First clean between the glass and the rubber seal with solvent on a small rag (on outside of car), let dry, then inject the sealant.

A little messy (don't scrimp on sealant), but cleans up with solvent, and seals perfectly (I did the entire perimeter on the windshield and rear window just to be sure). Sure beats popping out (and possibly breaking) the glass......;)
