Question(s) on replacing oil line

Hi everyone.

I picked up an oil line section, the one on the right side of the motor over the right cam chain cover (sorry if the terminology is wrong). I'll post a picture below. I have a couple questions about replacing it - I don't have a service manual yet.

- Anything special for the procedure, or can I just swap it out? For example, do I need to drain the oil or anything?
- what are the torque specs for the bolts?
- then...should there be crush rings on the one end?

Thanks, guys!

Humbly,
Mark.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1325009710.jpg

I did mine without draining the oil. If I remember correctly, I had to be really patient, as there is not much room in there to get a decent turn on the wrench. But without the AC Bracket, your's should be no problem at all.

Have fun!

you don't need to drain oil. there are crush rings (2) on the valve cover side of the line, which uses a banjo bolt. There's little room for torque wrench in there. I just used my judgment in not overtightening.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll need to pick up the crush rings at the local dealer :( Was hoping to do the job this morning, but not to worry.

Make sure to support the connection at the fan where the oil pressure sender connects with a wrench. Too much torque can crack the case. Then you have a big problem. Tighten it snug, start engine. If it leaks tighten slightly more.
