clutch clevis adjust direction?

Hi folks,

I just rebuilt the transmission and installed it in the car with a new pressure plate/clutch. Pretty excited to try it out, but I can't seem to get the clutch adjusted right!

1.2mm without clutch cable: ok, no problem
1.0mm with clutch cable: can't get it. Can't get anything actually.

I have the nuts on the transmission-cable connection such that they are at the end of their travel, towards the rear of the car, to get the clutch pedal up to a reasonable height. It's still below the height of the brake pedal.

I suspect I need to adjust the clevis on the cable in the pedal assembly. After removing lots of interior trim, I can get to the clevis through the small porthole above it and can turn it in 1/16th of a rotation increments. It's a PIA.

My question is: which way do you think I should turn it? My instinct is clockwise, facing towards the front of the car, as this should take up slack in the cable.

Much appreciated, thanks-

Babak

PS reading some threads I'm also going to try actuating and kroil-ing the omega spring.
PPS my cable is fairly new, only 3 years old.

To shorten the cable at the clevis you need to remove the retaining pin, 26, then loosen the retaining nut, 24, then spin the clevis, 25, further onto the cable end.

Thanks Ed, I think my retainer (#26) was upside down. I put it back the same way, it's easier to access it seems. I spun the clevis and took up a lot of the slack and was then able, for the first time ever, to adjust my clutch properly! Thanks -

Babak
