All season tires?

Who runs all season tires? I have to replace tires soon and have always run ultra high performance tires. I'm an aggressive driver but getting tired of the noise and short life of these tires. No snow driving but do have some cold days in the mountains.
I basically want a quiet, aggressive, longer life tire...does it exist?

I'm running all season Continental DWS, treadware 540+, temp. AA, traction AA & I have to say (seeing this is the first time I'm running all season tires) these are fantastic, super smooth & quiet, incredible grip @ ALL temps. albiet a tiny bit softer in really hard high speed turns but not enough to justify any gripes! I had Toyo T1s' before these & previous to those Bridgestones both summer only & wore out way too early. I spent alot of time researching which tires to get, I too was getting just simply annoyed wiht tires that had low treadware & wore out too early for my liking, thus prompted me to go all season. I'm very impressed with these Conti.'s

I ran the Continentals mentioned above on my BMW 330i and was very happy with them. Good grip on dry roads and ok grip on snow covered roads.

On the Porsche I finally bought a second set of Fuchs and mounted snow tires on them. More expensive up front of course, but you extend the lifespan of both those tires and your summer tires by having both sets!

DWS here. Daily Driver. Oregon. Lots of rain. I wanted a consistent grip through all temps - not a max grip and a significant roll off when the temps went down. Ran to the Coast yesterday in dry and went and had a nice quiet unexciting trip.

Driven in snow with them several times. They are acceptable in snow as long as it isn't a Michigan type of multi month experience.

I run 275 / 40 / 17 and 225 / 45 / 17 Yokohama S-Drive on my '78 SC. They are W speed rated (168 mph) and are exceptional tires in the rain and dry. More than enough grip for a street tire with enough tread to go anywhere anytime. Not racing tires by any means but they do well with my hot-rod 911 on the street. They handle rain like its not there.

Another big plus is the rim protecting shoulder these tires have.

I got the Pirelly P Zero Nero M-S all season tires 205/55VR16, front and 225/50/VR16 back. on my Fuchs 16X6 and 16X7, two years ago. I wanted tires that are not only good for summer but also for occasional cold weather and maybe some snow. So far I have driven them only all year in summery Southern California and I am very happy with them. They are not too expensive, have very good road adhesion and run quietly.

Although not "all season," my Continental Extreme Contact DW (dry/wet) felt "good" (i.e didn't feel like rocks) on the few 30 degree days I drove on them before switching to snow tires.

I've only had them for a season, but they have worn quite well so far and have a high treadwear rating (whatever that's worth). Bottom line, they seem to fit your desire for a "quieter, agressive, longer life tire" to a t . . .

Who did you get them from?

If from the Tire Rack, how was the "freshness" (date time code). I read a post here about them dishing out tires that were 2 year old.

Thanks

J.J.

I've been running Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS tires on my WRX for years now. I started with 16s (205/55) but switched to 225/45 -17s when I got BBS STi wheels for my car. Great handling tires, last long, fairly quiet. n fact I've done DEs with them and they handled admirably well. They also made a difference in the torrential downpours we get here in South Florida. The car is steady and tracks well without any aquaplaning. Tire Rak has some in dwindling sizes, but you may be able to find something Porsche-like.

JJ, I purchased them from a local tire dealer here in Brantford (OK Tire on Colborne). The date code is from May/11 & frankly, the savings were not too bad considering if I purchased them from south of the border (& beleive me I hunted for a deal) the duty & shipping would have far surpassed the savings because I would still have to pay for installation. Pretty trusted in dealing with him because he was patient with my requests on how to mount the weights carefully on inside of rim & he was very open with the tire manufacturing info. like the date code & where they were coming from (ie. distribution centre) he's very informative & wants to work with you in good faith to ensure you're pleased (he's been a car guy for a long time & people know him around here), so I guess I've got some pretty fresh tires

I am running BFGoodrich g-Force Sport A/S tires for street (I have Toyo R888 for the track).

For street, I like them much better than the Toyo H-4 and Yoko ES-100's I had prior to these.

I'm running ContiExtreme Contact, 225/50VR16 & 205/50VR55, purchased from Tire Rack.

I originally wasn't impressed, but found that paying more attention to inflation pressure at different temperatures made a very big difference. With proper inflation pressure, they can certainly handle everything my driving skill level asks of them.

It is VERY nice to be able to take the car out in cold weather without feeling like the tires are made of concrete, as was the case with summer ultra-high performance tires.

(I took the car out for a long New Year's Day drive - VERY nice.)

I also find that I'm far less worried about driving the car with some enthusiasm in wet weather with these tires.

On my other car (C-class, sport optioned) I run separate summer and winter tires, but that car is used in snow and other weather/road conditions that have the 911 warm & dry in the garage.

I am running Falken ZE 912 (195/60/15 front and 205/55/15 rear). I found them great for the cold weather up here in Vancouver, Canada and the rain. I don't have any summer experience with these yet. They were also very reasonably priced at Discount Tire Direct.

I've worn out two or three sets of Toyo Proxes 4 on other German cars, use them year 'round. Quiet reasonably grippy in normal use. The Porsche came with a set of low-cost Ohtsu/Falken Xi-427 on it. Not particularly impressive on the Porsche or on one of the BMWs either.

Just my opinion but the last two sets of tires I have put on my 911sc are the Kumho 's .. they are inexpensive but ride very nice the current set I have are the Exta LE Sport they 8's and 9's for wet and dry .. they are a 300 tread wear and very low noise scale ..

I do mostly street driving and AX with these tires and am more than happy with them a set of 4 ran me under 600 at AMT .. 225 17 front and 255 17 rear ..

I do drive my car in the rain and in the 110 plus here in the valley in the summer ..

Steve
