Post 911 Chassis dolly TRY 2 - Pursuit of Perfection

OK, this time I'll try to include the pic. Note the outstanding German craftsmanship of my vintage 911 chassis dolly. It is movable and steerable, and actually includes a 1.8l motor for ease of movement.

As I am no longer in need of this dolly, I will consider selling it, for $1500.

Hello

Dolly ? Dolly Dollar ?

Better not try to clone that sheep

Go to the next junkjard and fetch a pair old Porsche or Volkswageb rear sway bar outher covers ( That 4 bolt coverplate ).

Use that to weld on a solid construction for large rubber rollers.

For the front you need a old axle beam ( Niveaumat are always leftover ) or replicate one to have a base carrier.

You can use infant bicyle wheels. Make enough track wide as it will not flip and you can use it to tow it up to a trailer.

The parts need brakes as if you work on it or will move it they help. make only the front end steerable except you have to work in thight areas.

Heheh- yeah...the casters that I put on the dolly the first time around were too small, and collapsed! So, a trip to Northern Hydraulics yielded some new casters rated at 650lbs each.

The only problem was, I had to flip the dolly over to remove the crunched casters and drill in the new ones. So I enlisted Jamie (left), my *****box VW Jetta (center) and Dustin (right) to help with the task. We lifted the 1000+ lb. tub off the dolly and set it on the hood of my Jetta...eheheh...that is a 4x4 post placed properly under the new jack tube to keep it from sliding off the hood...
