Guys, Just got back my 1987 Carrera from a 3-week hiatus in a body shop. It was there for rust and paint chip repair. While at it, all the rubber trim was also replaced. Disassembled and ready to be worked on: Rust and paint chips identified and sanded: Masked and primed: Masked and painted: Ahhh, done! Now I'll take a breather for a few weeks and then back to the shop for rear-end repairs and the fitting of a tail! BTW: does anybody have anything positive to say about the Better Bodies whale tail? They sell them for $450. Boris 1987 Carrera 3.2

Did you save the rubber trim (the "smile" to be exact)?!? Please say you did, I have been looking for used trim because I have none right now. I am willing to pay a few bucks for it too //Zen [This message has been edited by Zendalar (edited 07-25-2001).]

How much was that body repair? I'm picking up an '87 Carrera this weekend that has some poorly-touched up spots, but no rust, dents or dings. It's all black, so it should be easy to match. I was planning on no more than $1000 to look perfect. Realistic? Please advise. Thanks.

I bought a whale tail from Better Bodies/ I was not inpressed with the quality. My body shop guy told me it was crap and he had to do alot of prep work before he painted it.

Car looks great, but how did they blend in the paint? It looks like the doors back are masked off. Can they match paint that well that no blending was needed? By the way I am considering similar work. Do you mind emailing what you paid? Thanks, michael 87 targa - same color - silver
