Thumbs down Sad P-Car owner, Car Vandelism

Well this is really the *****s, my car's driver side window got shattered last nite. I left my car on the street in a neighborhood for a couple of hours and came back to find the damage. This sucks! Im so pissed. especially b/c nothing was stolen, just the broken window.

I have a 1970 911. Could anyone tell me how hard/expensive it is to replace the window glass?? Im pretty handy and have done a LOT of work on my baby myself, is this somthing i should have done??
any help or feedback is appreciated.

Thanx..

Patrick, call your insurance agent. The damage is almost certainly covered. The claim should not raise your rates. Call or email me if you have any problems.

I found the easiest way to do it is take inside door panel off, then unscrew all the allen bolts that hold the entire window frame to the door, and slide it up and out. Roll window up(what's left of it) and pull up and out. It sits(pops) into a groove. You will see what I'm talking about when your in there. Piece of cake! But, as stated above, if you have full coverage, insurance will take care of it.
Bummer about the vandalism.

Patrick

Just be glad it wasn't to a rear quarter and the decklid, like some car I know of. Glass is much easier than sheet metal.

Sorry to hear about that! A couple weeks ago, somebody shot out two windows (driver's door & back glass) on my S4. They took out dozens of windows in the same night; BB gun.

911 door glass is really easy to replace...but if your insurance is covering the damage then let a pro do the work IMHO. Dealing with the early door pockets & panels is a fairly time-consuming and tedious task.

Easy fix - you got off easy too. The toughest part is removing all the glass pieces from the interior of the car. 50 years from now, when they do a ground-up on your car, they will find more of it...

Glass should be pretty cheap...
