Steering wheel replacement
I want to swap the 4 spoke steering wheel from my 85 (early) 944 with the 3 spoke wheel on my 84 Carrera.
Can anyone tell me if this is a straight swap or will I need some sort of adaptor? |

You'd need to change the hubs, as the splines are different. You drill out the 4 rivets holding the hub and swap both hubs. Put them back on with 6 mm nuts and bolts. Use nylock or loctite...

Thanks. I was hoping the splines are the same but this seems like a straightforward job.
Do you know if instrument visibility changes much on the 911 with the slightly smaller 4-spoke wheel? My rough guess is that it should not change much but of course can't really tell until after the swap. |
