Door popping open - latch not striker - help plz
 

Hi. My door latch is playing up. My panel beater said it is not my striker (which is new).

Anyway, my question is what component of the latch would be broken or worn? If I remove and soak in petrol/ give it a good clean, would it make a difference / worth doing?

They can and do break. It probably needs to be replaced. I put in a used one from a dismantler. I had one break on my 72 911.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think anything is actually broken, just worn.

If I pulled it all out and cleaned it, do you think it would make any difference?

What component would be worn? Is there something I could do to extend its life until I find a replacement? Being in Australia usually takes a while for shipments etc.
