Main Vacuum Hose 3.2
I finally found the main vacuum hose part number in PET. I'm referring to the one the runs from the check valve on the back of the engine down and around to the back of the firewall that feeds the brake booster. It's 999 101 022 51. The diameters are 11.8mm ID x 19mm OD and it has all kinds of fabric reinforcement. I think you could drive your car over it without it collapsing. It's also currently listed at $40 on the catalog, so I assume that's per meter. I'll check with Pelican and post if inaccurate.
Is anyone aware of a suitable alternative? I am reluctant to get a lesser vacuum hose, it is for the brakes after all. I don't want to be cheap with anything, especially the brakes, but $80 for 2 meters of vacuum hose seems like Ferrari prices. Actually, a Ferrari hose would be about $250, but $80 is still steep to me. I will bite the bullet and get the hose from Porsche if that's the best thing to do. Thanks.

Hi
|
When I replace my hose I couldn't find it on the PP site so I just ran down to the nearest auto parts store and match it up as close as possible. 1/2" hose i believe.
Been running that hose for a year now (30k miles) with no problems.

OK, I think I have this figured out. The vacuum hose that runs from the intake manifold check valve to the rear firewall is 12mm ID (11.8 according to PET) and 19 OD. I will order tomorrow, but the best thing to do is to buy BMW part number 34-33-1-115-926-M20, which is a fabric wrapped 12x19 Cohline german hose. It should be exactly the same as the factory hose. Pelican stocks the hose and it qualifies for free shipping and is currently priced as $12.50/meter. In my mind, this is the best solution for those anal retentive among us. Although, 1/2" vacuum hose from your local parts store like Targa Me suggests is probably fine.
