Hong Kong Pelican Meet

I am so excited! I managed (finally) to get our first Drive Day here in Hong Kong. Despite over 20 replies to fliers I mailbox dropped, we only managed to get 8 definites. Then the weatherman said the rain was on its way and 4 dropped out (garage queens). Undaunted, the remaining four met and we spent an awesome three hours chasing each other around, under and over Hong Kong's city and country parks with full sunshine. It was a most awesome morning and those in attendance had a ball. We had breakfast half way through the morning - a great time to chat and it was clear this was going to be the first of many more!

Anyhow, here are a few quick shots with the disposable camera.

I am so happy to have got this started. The Porsche Club here in HK truely sucks. Trying to get anything out of them is near impossible unless you tell them you own a GT3! Bah to them - I'll get my own group going if that's the case.

Two days after the Drive Day I had several people emailing me apologising for not making it so our next run looks good.

The feeling of getting together with a few likeminded people passionate about their cars is similar to being in contact with everyone on this board.....awesomely inspiring and motivating.

Next task is getting all these guys on this board to share in the comradery here.

These sort of drive days are great fun, as you know by now. Are you ever going to move back to Australia? If so, it'd be great if you came along on our next Melbourne Drive Day.

Adam - naa - not in the near future. We're here for the next 10+ years then we'll retire early to the Goldie. Plan to buy a house later this year or early next year on the Coast and have our holidays each year in Aust. at this house.

Having said that, my plan is to bring the 87 Cab to Qld in a few years and leave it at the house for holiday fun, and buy another one for here. Then we'll definitely drive down to Melbourne and Adelaide to catch up with family and friends. We have two months (June/July) off every year for summer holidays (here in HK) so this will be spent in Aust. travelling around and I am definitely going to bug the hell out of my Pelican mates for a beer or three! and a cruise with the Melbourne Pelican heads will be on the cards (I'll try not to embarass you all!)
