recovering door pockets....need help/advice

I'm pretty much done with an interior revamp on my 82 SC. When I took the old carpeting off of the door pockets, parts of them disintegrated. I ordered some fiberglass replacements via EBAY through some guys in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Prompt shipping, returned phone calls, but the fit is slightly off......not bad, but I'll have to do a little bit of McGyvering. However, here's my problem......

When I got to the point of recovering the new door pockets at the end of the install, I began to lose patience and had to walk away for a day or two. I can see that they're tricky, but I'm wondering if somebody has any timely tips that I could benefit by. The cut of the new pieces (World Upholstery) is fine. Is it possible to accomplish this task without the use of profanity???

Thanks,

Steve
