New Battery Install

Hi,
Just purchased a 1986 Carrera coupe, needs some minor problems fixed but overall a solid never damaged origonal paint car. I notice many use spiral cell batteries to replace the standard battery, but you need to either purchase or make a special plate to hold it down.

I found a solution, Advance auto parts now carries absorbent glass mat batteries that are a perfect fit in our cars. They have the same advantages as the spiral wound brand but don't need the mounting plate.

I measured and the H6 size is a perfect fit, 850 cranking amps, 3 year replacement warranty, and it's less expensive.

You do need to pick up one universal battery hold down, the one that catches the lip at the bottom of the battery. Just slide the battery under the origonal hold down near the wheel well, and use the new one to hold down the other side, there is a screw hole that is already in the correct place. I did have to take an 18 th of an inch off the generic hold down to make it fit perfectly.
