Cabriolet Electric Latch Fix 1 of 2 w/pics

I have had to do this about six times over the years with
different cars. So I logged it and took pics to possibly help others.

These motors are very simple but have very poor connection points that
can be fixed by anyone.

Sorry about 2 posts could not load pics into 1 post

I have a question, The passenger side Latch on my 89 has failed not the motor but the gears will not stop keeps rotating still works but I have to get just right. I will be getting a drivers side from a friend today that works, can I take the gear assembly from the new one and replace it with old one to make it work. Thanks and great thread

Yes you can " But if your getting a new one today
why go the motion" or are you just testing with anew one.

Remember the washers that go under the gear they are planted with white grease and
can easily be missed. Just hit me back if you get stuck

Have you seen incidences were the smaller brass colored gear has a fracture? I've seen two incidences of this.

I also had one that used a microswitch to stop the motor. It failed. It's good to have a donor unit handy if you're the diy type.
