Reliable shop near Sugar Land, Texas?
Hi - Can anyone recommend a good Porsche mechanic to complete a pre-purchase inspection on an early LWB near Sugar Land (Houston area) Texas? Simple pre-purchase inspection and will consist of leak down, compression test, visual fluids analysis and all the other common stuff.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Patrick |

Rennsport in Sealy comes highly recommended. It is not near Sugarland but may not be a traffic nut house to get to it if you go through New Territory then up to Sealy.
The dealer on 59 could do it if they are still there (if Penske did not eat them) They ought to have one old timer that could do it. |

OK - I see you are in Arizona. I would really stick with Rennsport then. If the seller wants to sell then he will get the car up there for you.

chococrazy's shop is close. You said it's an early LWB, so if it is before the full galvanized body dip (I guess that would be 74 only) a good body man with technical ability to do a compression and leak down test plus all the other basics would be a real good choice.
I know he works on Porsches. Call him and talk to him. |

Too bad Sam closed shop.
Search the Lonestar Region newsletter or contact the respective president. I was a member for 10 years and they are all helpfull. That said, if it runs good shifts good, drives good, and compression is good, that is only half the assessment. A body shop is your best friend for inspection for corrosion or collision damage. If Colision Clinic is familiar with early 911's, go there. I would. |

Rennsport in Sealy is great. Mike and Warren are good guys. That would be my first choice.
The Porsche dealer on 59 is still open. They might be OK if they have a tech that knows anything. Porsche dealer on I10 West has one old guy left (Hans). He used to work on my 964. They might be able to help. Call first. Swiss Garage off West Alabama did a ton of work on my 84 for the previous owner. Might try them as well. One friend of mine had good experiences with Texas German ******** - so you could try them as well. Good Luck. Ken

Michael Cawley at European Auto Technik (Spring Hill area) did an awesomely thorough PPI on a car I found in Houston, drove back to Birmingham, and am still driving with no more than routine maintenance (for the most part). Others here have had good experiences with Mike as well, as I recall. HIGHLY recommend this guy if he's still around (I was there in 2008).
European Auto Technik 1200 Spears Rd Houston, TX 281-873-5111 Edited to add - this is one of the shops that Lonestar Region PCA recommended to me when I contacted them. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thank you all for your suggestions and help - Mike Callas in Sealy, TX has agreed to do the PPI. His quote was very reasonable, and he sounds like he really knows his stuff!
