Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System
Does anyone in the US have this old school looking radio:
Classic News - Classic News & Events | Porsche Apparently, it is being sold, but not for the US. I think it can be bought in the US, but I'm not sure what maps you get with it. I have an old cassette Kenwood, and would like to update my 911SC radio, but looking at all the newer models - they just look too blingy for my tastes. I like this more subdued appearance of the Classic Radio. If anyone in the US has one, can you please post a pic in your car and where you bought it? Oh yeah, and does it have US maps? |
Sorry not of much help here just a random comment worth about .02
Why? My cell phone has a better screen - with any map of any part of the world and oh yeah its a phone...wtf...a 3.5 inch nav window - surely they jest? I mean for real? a 3.5 nav window down at your knees...? Never really understood a "radio" in a 911...really really will never understand nav in a 911. If you want music hit the loud pedal on the floor - if you need to know how to navigate around Paris in your 911 - pick up your cell phone. Back to why....sorry had to ask. |
And it's FUGLY too!

As I said, I'd like to update my old cassette Kenwood radio, but it just looks like all the newer players have bright, dancing, multi-colored LEDs. Someone had posted about using window tint on the faceplate of their radio to cut down on the brightness of the lights. I actually like the simple look of that radio, but I did read that installation requires some kind of cut in the dash, and that would be a deal-killer for me. I guess no one in the US has one of these. |
