Challenged by a new parking brake cable
My new parking brakes cables are installed minus one step. I am really struggling to get the cable end housing over the nipple on the firewall. I had to pry the old one off with a screwdriver, but I assumed that was on there a long time. I have tried sliding a wrench around the housing and tapping with a small hammer, but I'm afraid I will damage something. Anyone faced this issue and succeeded? BTDT Suggestions welcomed.

I got it. I slipped a 13mm open end wrench on it and hit the wrench with a hammer as close to the cable as possible. I should have measured and marked the point when it is fully seated, but didn't. I'm not worried, because it's on tight enough that it isn't coming off.

I have the exact same problem. I actually thought they were poorly made since I have repro ones, so I was releived to read your post. Thanks for the idea using a wrench!
Regards, Johan
