'87 Speed-o-meter wires removal.......

Need some tips or suggestions how to remove these wires from the speed-o-meter housing. The three (3) wires with red plastic shown in the picture below is my quest.

How do you guys perform the removal? There seems to be a ring-lip like at the base of the red plastic holding the wire (???). Is that where to pry it? Thanks.

Tony

I had good luck using needle nose pliers and gently turning the silver part. Don't pull on the wire or the red plastic part

Thanks to all of you guys......

I was able to remove the 3 wires and continued to dismantle the speedometer. After reading Thrasher's post about changing speedometer gears, and contributions from NickCG and Targamaniac, the replacement of the odometer gear went very well.

Good deal. I didn't have great luck replacing the gear in mine. It never really worked right. Some day I send it out for repair.
By the way, just my humble opinion, but LED replacements for the bulbs is a really nice upgrade, and easy to do even if you already put the speedo back. You now know how easy it is to remove it and replace the bulbs.
