Jack and Widebody's track day

I seem to read a lot of smack talking about this track day.
The fact is, track times for a given driver/car combination will likely be approximately normally distributed.

If you two would, I'd like the complete list of official track times you got that day. If they're available, great, if not, just delete this post.

Then we'll do a few computations using the student T, find the average track time and decide, based upon the sigma estimate an approximate distribution
.
From this we can conclude if driver A is faster on the track than driver B. The 'single best' track time is irrelevant unless a driver always gets his 'single best' time everytime he sets out. What is much more important is the distribution.

Using this, we'll see get a significance level of driver A over driver B or vice versa.

Thanks. I want to declare a winner, make someone say 'uncle' and then set it to rest.

Of course you realize the smack-talking is all in fun.

The only "official" time I have for the day was for the time trial segment, in which Jack didn't participate. Aside from that, the arbiter was the Hot Lap timers in each of our cars. I only captured my best time of the day, and cleared the timer when I got home. For the very last run session of the day, which was open to all cars, although there were probably only 8 cars on the track, my fastest was a 2:15, my slowest, was about 2:30 with traffic.

This is probably the only time in my lift in which I'll have faster lap times than Jack - or anyone with a similarly-equipped 911 - so I have to relish it. This is my 15 minutes, and I have to make it last as long as I can...

Kurt B, I think you're being a little rough on 2 fellows that were sharing their experiences on the track. By all accounts it looked like Thom got lucky and nipped Jack "in the lights". As with most 1st losers, Jack mildly complained about not having a chance as he didn't know what time he had to beat.
This community has watched these 2 build their cars and I enjoyed reading about the head to head match up. But most of all I enjoyed 2 fellows I have come to know from Pelican having a great day at the track.
It sure as hell beats reading the endless posts about MM, the endless search no-sex is having for the perfect Porsche, or will my car be ruined if I change from mineral oil to synthetic.

Well, I'm not causing any trouble, I just want to apply a little analysis to it!

Okay, so it IS like playing 5 min blitz in 1986 after school where you play the same kid 6 games and spank him, get careless during the 7th game, drop a queen and resign.

For the entire next week that 7th game is all you hear about, all you think about, and all the little talleywhacker talks about.

So, I'm trying to figure out if their track day was a spanking or if it was something dropping a queen during the 7th game ....

In the end, I'm having just as much fun as anyone else!

Actually experienced drivers have their laptimes all grouped within .5% range, and for some even that's a big spread. Granted there was traffic when these guys were out there which would skew things.

Kurt, from what I got from reading the story was Jack must of been playing with his tallywacker instead of taking care of business. Thom's story seems to be that even a blind squirrel can find a acorn occasionally.
Tallywacker! LOL
