help installing brake reservoir lines to new MC
 

I am replacing my master cylinder in a 75 911s. I am having a heck of a time getting the goose necks from the reservoir lines installed into the top of the master. Anyone have any tips? I can get them started but I can't figure out a way to get any leverage or force on them to work them down.

Brake rubber lubricant worked for me, just a thin smear, then wiggle those pipes using your fingers of steel. Removing the flexible pipes inside the footwell helps, they can be refitted ok, preferably replaced at the same time.

Well I got them in. After a couple of years sucking-up to my wife to let me buy a project car I am starting to question my sanity.

Just in case it helps anyone else here's what I did:
1. Removed the screws that hold the bracket for the brake fluid reservoir. Lower the reservoir as low as possible.
2. Work that extra slack in the lines down through the car. The lines run behind the driver's side floor board. This should give you a couple inches extra slack under the car.
3. I lubed the goose necks with brake fluid (didn't have any rubber lubricant on hand).
4. Right or wrong I had to use a vice grip (no fingers of steel here) on the metal stem then used a lot of force and rocking motion to get them to seat all the way down.

Getting these lines in took me twice as long as the entire rest of the project and it was one short sentence in the write-up.
