Rewiring my 911...... help!
Hi everyone,
I have a 72 911T that I am restoring and building a track/weekend car out of. My question is as follows: How do I rewire the car once it is repainted inside and out? The OEM fuse box/battery/etc. is a rat's nest. I want to just have the basic necessities when it comes to the wiring. No frills. Engine electrical Single battery Brake lights Headlights Instrumentation Am I missing anything? Where can I go for a resource for accomplishing this? thanks for everyone's help. chris

Wow, that's a Warren question if I ever saw one. It seems to me you could get a decent 911 fuse panel, or repair your existing one. You will still need some kind of fuse panel anyway. But you won't need much more than a row of fuses. There may be some electrical plugs that you would need to remove from the old harness and reuse. I think that would be a fun project. Use good wire and shrinktube and build a nice simple wire set that fits the car just right and is fastened down, like tucked up underneath stuff.

A 72T is really pretty basic to begin with. As long as you don't have AC or elec. windows as options. The only other things I guess you don't need a heater blower, cigarette lighter and radio. I would think you would want the wipers, horn, turn signals, and license plate light. The clocks usually don't work anyway.
Anyway once you get the necessities hooked up I think you'll find it's no big deal to just hook up the rest of it. If it's weight savings your after, I don't think there is enough to gain by removing the extra wires which would be a real headache since they're bunched together in a harness. By the way, there are wiring diagrams available on this website. just go to Pelicans home page and you should see them listed in the 911 section below the BBS. They don't have one specific to 72' but they have a 71' diagram that's good thru 73' minus the CIS car. P.S. If you get stumped let us know. I can take a picture of my fuse block.
