Let's re-visit the rotors/pads question.
Time for new rotors and pads.
On my heavy S6 with 993TT calipers over Audi S8 rotors (similar in size to the 993TT fronts) I ran Zimmerman slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads, and was very satisified with the overall performance of the system. (Slotted due to one encounter with a puddle and a need for emergency braking on the other side - I nearly soiled myself that time.) I see no reason to go slotted on my Carrera and can get rotors from our host, so I would like to talk about pad options. I do not plan on tracking the car, so this is more street/spirited driving. Good initial bite, reasonable rotor wear, low/no noise, easy on the dust - in order of importance. My HPS pads took a long time to give me no noise. I liked them on all the other parameters. I did a search, and there is a LOT of information there, but i think I have an idea the Performance Friction, Hawk or Ferodo pads might all be valid choices to satisfy the above conditions. What do my fellow Pelikaners say? |
Why not just "standard" OEM Pads ?? Aren't the choices you mention all "performance pad" builders, more intended for track/DE use ?? I never had problems with my Textar, .....,.... "cheapies" from our host. They worked great for me. Only got a full set of "track pads" when I burned up my cheapie set finally on a very hard on brakes DE track. Those "track" pads are tough on rotors ! Better to get softer pads with good cold bite and low noise and not do a bunch of rotor maintenance imho.

ebc yellows
I have used EBC yellows and liked them for the street/DE events on my 79sc.
