Check out the info on this web page:

Fahrzeugidentifikation Porsche 911 1972-73

Great tip Rob.
As far as i can see, both vin and engine number match '73T (US model MFI)

Love the colour you picked a good one.

Thanks Mike, I really hope so, would be great to work on and enjoy the car with both my sons when they're a bit older :)

Congrats on taking the long hood plunge. Please give us a fem,ore details on the car. Does it still have the regional engine (MFI/CIS/carbs)?
Love the color and can't wait to see more photos.

K

Thanks, must say, wasn't too sure about the color but it seems to grow on you :)It's an MFI model, Euro models still had carbs installed, but this one is imported from the US

I once had a US 1972T. That one also came with a Bosch mecahnical fuel injection pump. So it seems to me that this 73 model could very much be the same.

My first 911..1973 1/2T..factory A/C..steel wheels changed to Fuch later. "S" spoiler on the front. A trouble free and easy car to drive.

I miss that car...

Yes..that is factory air conditioning. The front condenser will have the same trunk blower as the 3.2 later models. Hoses were fiber wound rubber. If they are original, you best change them. I put a rotary compressor on mine. Much less vibration with the A/C on and better cooling too.

Hi all,

A quick update on the car.
It's a '73 2.4 911T, original color is bright yellow. It has had a repray some years ago in (more or less) the same color.
The original color is a little bit less bright (still visible in the dooropening of the car)

It has an aftermarket airconditioning installed and originally seems to have had a sportomatic gearbox.
I'm trying to find out if the engine could be original to the car.
VIN: *9113100336*
Engine: *6139052*
Can anybody tell me if the VIN and engine serial could belong together?

Many thanks,

Sleepless in Haarlem ;)

Georgie

I'm afraid this is somewhere else.

As I mentioned earlier, the VIN and engine serial # are both quite early and thus could be a match. We do have the issue of a Sporto engine without a Sporto transmission though. What is the transmission serial # on the very bottom of the case? Does the oil tank have extra (unused) fittings that a Sporto would use? Are there any signs of a conversion? It may be that the original engine failed and was replaced by another early engine. The only sure way of knowing is to get info from the factory. Would still like to know the paint code on the badge.

Take her back to sporto!!

Sporto throttle bodies are a little different too. They have threaded bosses for some sort of vacuum thingy.
