Throttle Linkage Help (Part Needed)
All
I am looking for some help. I managed to put some miles on the project car this weekend and have a problem. I was never able to get the throttle linkage adjusted correctly but got is close enough to work. While I was driving this weekend the linkage kept falling off. It appears as if someone has welded an extension on the end of the linkage where it connects to the carb. I am enclosing a picture and put some arrows to point to the area in question. 1. Does anyone know if this looks normal? 2. Does anyone have the throttle linkage that goes from the carbs to the base of the transmission they would like to sell? Since the linkage is to long, the loop keeps falling off the connection by the transmission. (second picture) http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate...le-Linkage.jpg http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate...e-Linkage2.jpg I am open to any suggestions/comments or getting the correct linkage. Thanks for the help. |
Yes, that piece from the transaxle bellcrank to the carbs looks pefectly normal ... just like mine!
1. Are the bushings for the bellcrank worn, making it loose on the stud out of the transaxle case? 2. Is the stud for the bellcrank perfectly horizontal, or has it been bent slightly upwards by impact from foreign object? 3. Is the Bowden Tube (large black 'bow' in pic just behind throttle rod) for the clutch cable touching/rubbing the throttle rod anywhere during clutch actuation? 4. Is the ball-socket end shown loose in the pic what is coming loose? If so, the internal snap-ring that is supposed to keep it on the 'ball' of the bellcrank is probably worn out ... and that end socket piece is the problem! It is #11 in the diagram below ... 901.423.026.02 <img src="http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/1974-75/7-1.JPG"> |

1. Are the bushings for the bellcrank worn, making it loose on the stud out of the transaxle case? I did install new bushings. 2. Is the stud for the bellcrank perfectly horizontal, or has it been bent slightly upwards by impact from foreign object? I will need to look into this more. When I saw what looked like an added section on the throttle rod I stopped and thought that was the problem. From the picture you had I see mine lookes the same as well. I will go back and look to see if there is any interefence as the pedal is actuated/ 3. Is the Bowden Tube (large black 'bow' in pic just behind throttle rod) for the clutch cable touching/rubbing the throttle rod anywhere during clutch actuation? This seems like where the problem must lie. I will look into this next. 4. Is the ball-socket end shown loose in the pic what is coming loose? If so, the internal snap-ring that is supposed to keep it on the 'ball' of the bellcrank is probably worn out ... and that end socket piece is the problem! It is #11 in the diagram below ... 901.423.026.02 The ball-socket assembly seems very tight. It takes effort to remove it. The linkage is getting disconnected near the trans. Nothing appears bent to me. Thanks for the pointers, I now have a few more things to look at tonight. |
