Going to be sending my speedo in to get calibrated, is there any reaon anyone can think of why I should not drive it? Is it electronically hooked to anything that will cause problems?

I'm not an expert on this, but I think you'll be ok. My p-car speedo is mechanical, but my Jeep speedo is electronic. The one in my Jeep goes out all the time in hot weather. Been doing that for 4 years now. Someday, I'll get motivated and fix it...heh.
I think it's a sensor. The engine runs a little rough at those times, but still works ok. I've gotten to where I can guess my speed according to rpms on the tach. |

CAUTION FIRE!!!!!!!
No problems except loose hot wires and the bulb sockets. Make sure that all wires are well protected from grounding out on each other or anything!!!!!!!!!!!! I bought a 79 SC a few years ago that had been a theft recovery. No guages? No big deal. I managed to get the car going and drove home using some spare seats that I had. The tires were square and she bounced all the way. The only problem on the e way was the acrid smoke that started pouring out of the holes in the dash! At 80 mph on the expressway its not easy to extinguish! Cut the ignition, douse the lights and pull over. What a mess! I went for a real basic hot wire set up to get it home. Thank goodness for those shrink tubes to repair some of the damage without a whole lot of wire replacement. Diverdan |
