Oscillating cold idle after wet DE event

I just got back from my first trip to Mid-Ohio with the new to me 911SC (1980) (I've had it for about 3-4 months). It rained all weekend and it was fun running in the wet. (I've always enjoyed driving a wet track). The problem started the morning of the second day. WHen I started the car, it started fine but began a mad oscillation between 500 and 2,500 RPMs. After the car warmed up, it was fine and idled normally.

Anyone have an idea what is wrong? Was it the combination of the wet with the hard track use that broke something?

The car has the O2 sensor disconnected and has a Cat-Bypass incase that effects an answer.

I haven't started it since Sun, but I assume it still does it.

Many thanks,

Noel

Check/Clean heater connection on WUR. Check continuity on heater terminals. Check for 12 volt supply on lead to heater.

I started the car up last night and the problem was gone. It warmed up with the normal cold idle. Perhaps moisture from the wet weekend at the track effected the current to the regulator?
What do you think?

Thanks for the reply.

Noel
