Advice on removing paint from lug nut recesses on refinished Fuchs wheels
As I understand it, there should be no paint in the recessed areas in Fuchs wheels where the base of the lug nuts sit.
A couple of questions: Is it dangerous to leave paint in those recesses in terms of lug nuts remaining tight for street use? If so, how do I best remove the paint? Q-tip with paint remover? Thanks in advance |
You don't want to use a solvent to do it - it will creep to the rest of the finish and start to wrinkle the parts you dont want touched.
Best way is to put them on and tighten the lugs...take it for a spin - then take them off...my bet would be most of the paint has come off where the lugs meets the surface and should be nice and clean. There is no danger in doing this as long as you torque them correctly. This is what I did with mine and it worked great. Took about 2 times to get them all clean with no paint and it looks like it should with no messy solvents. |

dremel tool works too, they make a steel brush that fits nicely.
