The Dream...Finally...New member and a necessary photo!

All,

It only took twenty five years but here she is...The exact car I dreamed about in high school but could never afford. I have been looking for a couple of years and finally pulled the trigger. Included some pictures for you guys (from the dealer)...For the most part, she came delivered as promised last week. I have driven her a few times over the week and no red flags as the PPI claimed! She has exceeded my expectations...A true raw driving experience.

1987 911 Targa
Black on black
46k miles

Looks like she got rained on in transit but is cleaning up nicely. I do have some questions regarding care....I am going to clean her myself and have been reading about using a clay bar and different waxes. Has anyone used a clay bar on paint? I am concerned about over polishing the all original German black paint! Have read about recommendations for using Mother's Back to Black on the rubber, etc. Any other recommendations for the rugs and leather? Wheels? Thanks in advance for all of the input!

Sweet ride and welcome! I think a well presented 911 in black is an amazing color. I believe there is even products marketed for that color to include black wax. I'm sure the experts will chime in on care tips. Again, congratulations!

Very sweet car, I have a 78SC targa, black on black my self. In terms of care, a good vacuuming will take care of the carpets on the inside. I have used turtle wax on all my cars for years, including my 911 and it looks great. Good luck with every thing

Regards
Dave

Hiya, Winter! Still looking for the "right" one. I have my sights on one, but the owner doesn't want to sell it. All stock black sc w/tail... I will certainly post if I ever am lucky enough to get one.

Very nice, but I think it would look even better sans tail.

Great car! It has 'Attutude' written all over it. Mine was also a high school dream car that i just bought a year ago. I'd keep the tail as it helps the car make a statement; especially in an all black car.

SWEET!

talk about time capsules! Looks brand new!

Care products:
My Favorite black paint care - Ziano (a little strange as it feels like you are not doing anything, then all of the sudden POW - she pops)
I also like Ziano leather in a bottle and perfect tire. (also works on the smile spoiler and rear bumpers)

I am now using Griot's polish and mothers sealants on the red car, and dont have much left of my leather interior...I have metal floors....no carpet recommendations but I know this. DONT get the mats wet (like soaking wet) they take about 6 months to dry out!!!

I use Rejex on my wheels..super easy to use, lasts a long time, looks great.

if those are wheel weights on the outside...have them re-done by someone who knows how to balance Fuchs - weights INSIDE

keep the steering wheel pretty well moistened with leather treatment or the leather shrinks and looks horrid.

and lastly, pull the center caps off and rotate them so the "point" of the shield points to the valve stem...on a cream puff like that its the first thing the "other guys" will see and you will look like a rookie!

Cheers!
