My new '73 911T

Hi there,

It's been a long while since I've posted anything. I've just been lurking around, soaking up every bit of information this board has to offer.

Despite of the fact I owned a 1986 Carrera for years, I always had a great fondness for the early models.
A couple of weeks ago I finally took the plunge sold the Carrera and bought a bright yellow '73 911T.
I must admit, this was both an exhilarating and scary leap of faith. I've yet to really inspect the car with my mechanic but since I've also just become a dad for the second time, my attention is somewhat focused on my newborn son

The car seems to be in good overall shape, not much visible rust, the paint job isn't very good and there are some problems with the second gear. Interior's a bit rough too.
Will keep you posted when I've got time to really have a good look at the car

Congrats on taking the long hood plunge. Please give us a fem,ore details on the car. Does it still have the regional engine (MFI/CIS/carbs)?
Love the color and can't wait to see more photos.

Cool car...!

Funny, I called the company who had the car for sale, to see if the car was still available... They told me you had just left the parking lot with the trailer, and the car.....

Enjoy it..!!

Update 911T

Hi all,

A quick update on the car.
It's a '73 2.4 911T, original color is bright yellow. It has had a repray some years ago in (more or less) the same color.
The original color is a little bit less bright (still visible in the dooropening of the car)

It has an aftermarket airconditioning installed and originally seems to have had a sportomatic gearbox.
I'm trying to find out if the engine could be original to the car.
VIN: *9113100336*
Engine: *6139052*
Can anybody tell me if the VIN and engine serial could belong together?

Many thanks,

Sleepless in Haarlem

On the "aftermarket air conditioning system" don't know if it was originally on your car or not but the under dash vents, from the angle of your pic, are the original behr longhood FACTORY vents. Nice '73 by the way!

D@vid,
Looking good! Love the color.

My 1973.5 2.4 T has a VIN of 9113103285 and was tagged as a 7/73 manufacture date.

My engine is 6135989.

Not sure if that helps. I know member "E Sully" also has a 1973.5 near this same set up numbers and has done more research than I have. Maybe he can help.

True, I think you're right, found the original owners manual and came to the same conclusion.

Yes the engine and VIN seem to be a good match. That engine is Sportomatic type. Is the transmission still a Sporto, the pedals suggest otherwise? What is the actual paint code on the badge?

Hi

David

It can't be a 1973.5 T because you do not have the CIS motor, unless someone changed it out or automatics are only MFI.

Usually the CIS motors started on 01/73. Per the Red Book Your car is a Sporto Automatic VIN and engine. What transmission is in it now?

Great car and color, low volume automatics were made, but reflects usually lower prices then 5 speeds.

It's actually a US mfi model (imported from Californie in 1999) and has a 5 speed gearbox installed. I must say I'm a bit confused about the "sportomatic" situation.
