PS Racing - Burbank CA - opinions?

Looking for a shop to replace the notorious Carrera (1987) fuel line behind the engine. Are these guys good for this kind of work? I heard they used to be a little slow at getting work out, but pretty good. I live in the San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles. BTW, is there a good (less expensive) aftermarket equivalent? The Porsche price seems way too much.
Thanks!

If you are in the Valley, just go see Dave at TRE in Van Nuyes. He will treat you right.

I go there. The shop is owned by Doug. Good guy. He replaced my fuel line also. I use his shop because it's local...Gary

I've often wondered about this shop. They seem to get a lot of business but all the long-hoods sitting in the front pen just kind of rotting away always makes me sad when I pass by!

I did a tune up (plugs, wires, oil change, filter) awhile back and didn't give me my first 911 for a month and a half. Was always trying to avoid me. Later I met other customers he ripped off and was in a lawsuit with others. We all decided to wait for him in the evening for two hours and caught him leaving from the back. lol. After he was confronted from a customer for a basic wheel alignment he responded by saying " Sue me if you can." Finally got his car back after 6 months. This was in 2001. Check better business. Never went there again.

Go to Dave B's TRE Motorsports or Tony's TLG Auto.

www.tlgauto.com

I can't confirm anything I've heard about PS Racing, but I haven't heard anything good. What I've heard is questionable at best.

I just had major work done on my 911 there a few weeks ago. The work done is holding up. It took maybe two weeks for me to get my car back but I had a lot of work done. Doug seems like he's a good guy but he's hard to get a hold of. No one at the business ever answers the phone directly and you always have to leave messages. Can anyone else elaborate on their negative experiences there?

Run.

What's wrong with them boys over at TRE. they are always there and they actually take the time to explain what has to be done.

I recently went back there to have an fender mounted oil cooler installed in my car. It ran without any problems. Doug, the owner got the job done and his rate was lower than other shops that I had called. I've heard of people complaining about how the shop looks on the outside i.e. cars/parts everywhere etc. If the guy does a good job, who cares. Some of those mechanics from pristine shops are stupidly arrogant but Doug is always informative about the work being done or suggestions about mods. He tells you straight up about what your situation is and leaves it up to you to decide what to do. I'm sure those guys at TRE (been there a long time ago), Valley European or TLG are good as well but Doug had the best rates.

Thumbs down Stay Away From THE PORSCHE STALAG!!!!

I was watching Hogan's Heros reruns and THE PORSCHE STALAG became my handle for describing PS Racing. If you like long hoods and you see the lot, it is so depressing that you will need Prozac. Please help the Porsche prisioners of Doug's engine non-rebuilds escape to freedom!!!! The $$$ is never coming back so save what is left of your Porsche while you can!!!! The PS Racing M.O. is to start disassembly and take progress payments but never finish after the rebuild is more than paid in full. I have never seen or heard of a completed 911 motor rebuild actualy drive out of the lot while my 911 was held prisioner.

I spent 10 years & $10,000 to listen to Doug's empty promises and watch my new paint & interior work fade in the lot. How do you like the photo of what is left of my motor? At least most MM victims that post get some piece of junk for their money. I got nothing from PS Racing for my money!!! Read the Rip Off Report, Scam Chasers, Scam Informer, etc.... for more reports of other rebuild/repair victims and the history of PS Racing's shady evolution.

As Monty Python said "RUN AWAY!!!"

No opinion on PS, but 5 years ago went to him for a quote on some engine work and just didn't get a good vibe.

I can also give a good recommendation for Fred Garcia, owner of Valley European. He has done most of the heavy lifting on my car and makes me laugh as he is half crazy. Kind of a CIS guru as well...
