Lsd 944 911

Looking to fit an lsd to my early (73MY) 911 915 gearbox. Would rather fit an original Porsche factory supplied ZF unit as some of the aftermarket lsd diffs can be variable. With an original unit the quality is assured. Have noticed a later (fine spline I think) lsd diff for sale that was factory fitted to a 944 turbo. Question is: Is the ZF lsd unit fitted to later 915s and maybe even G50s the same unit that is fitted to the 944 turbo

And did all 944 turbos come with lsd or was it an option

I do realise that I would need to change or machine the drive shafts to fit the later fine spline lsd.

The LSD was a fairly rare option on the 944 Turbo.

The 944 trans is an 016, no idea of what fitment is required to put an 016 LSD on a 915.

No, a 944 Turbo differential will not fit any 911 transmission, several dimensional differences as well as a 10-bolt gear flange.

There are no quality issues with current aftermarket LSD's such as Guard, which have adjustment features not available in a 1970's ZF.
