Are there other people like me?
I bought a 911,and now I go hunting for parts,and some how
these part are in my house .
I know they belong in the garage.

Yes, that's why this pastime, hobbie, passion and all consuming love for these cars is called a sickness by some. :)
My wife just puts stuff by the stairs down to the garage when it gets to be too much...
Then I slowly bring stuff back......

I have been fixing Porsche's since I got a drivers license. It began with a 924s and that turned in to a 911SC last summer. Neither car was fully functional when I got them, the 924s did not run at all. I spent a lot of time making them work, and they work very well if i dont say so my self. Over these few years I have found parts every where. Some times I even find screws and bolts in bed when I wake up. Not only are there parts every where now, but I have become a huge fan of Porsche memorabilia and collectibles. I have all the issues of road & track that contain the debut articles for every version of the 911 up to the Carrera there is simply no space to hang them all up in there frames any more. I even have come to save old parts when I take them off the car, in fear that one day I wont be able to find the part and will have to fix the broken one some how.

You say this like it's a bad thing.

I stored the 911 front and rear window glass in our lounge area for about 3 months, they may have gotten broken in the garage. After about a month everyone in the family thought it perfectly normal, so take heart and know you are not alone.

You mean the spare bedroom shouldn't be the storage zone for fiberglass bumpers, Recaro seats, and door cards? I had no idea. ;) My wife has been putting up with this from my for the past 5 years. Whether it was new BMX parts, VW parts, or now Porsche parts...there always seems to be something floating around the house that will eventually be bolted onto the car.

With me redoing the interior, lots of boxes have been showing up. My wife's car has been relegated to the driveway for now. The pressure is mounting for me to get done. My wife said the other day "if I had known this is what you meant when you said you wanted to buy an old Porsche, I would've just said go buy a new one!" Now she says that. Still I love these old air cooled cars. I wouldn't have it any other way. Ok... Ok... I could survive with more than one. :)

I have the 'boxes just keep showing up' issue at home. The wife and kids used to call me at work and tell me my parts showed up and they would be sitting in the kitchen when i got home. Now, they just get pushed into the garage with no notification. I definitely will have been able to buy a newer one by the time i get finished!

I have a cracked clutch fork on my night stand... I'm not sure why, but its been there for years.

My wife has some sort of sixth sense...any time any part remotely related to the Porsche gets near the house she can sense it and out it goes.

I dont have a problem....I can stop when ever I want, i just dont want to right now.....

those parts under the bed? they need to be there. And under the coffee table? Its a shift housing - I am "thinking about stuff" - important stuff!!! it reminds me to think about them

and I have like 12 couplers on my desk, I need those...

ISSUES..Whose got issues...not me. I am remodeling my garage as the parts keep falling of shelves and I have run out of space. For the next month, the SC will live in the outdoors and the 10x15 pop up canopy will be filled with the total accumulation of my garage. The end result, hopefully, will be a Porsche palace for my baby....:=)

yes im single and if I could I would just have a garage instead of a house and live in it.

So, then using my wife's granite kitchen counter to help sand down my valve covers is completely normal! My wife has been fairly patient...the boxes simply sit by the front door until I get the look. You know that look, disapproving but trying to be patient? I just bought more patience when I got her a convertible mustang this weekend :)

My garage is hopelessly too small...so many of my parts that are for collecting are now in my office at work. Doesn't everyone have a mercedes grill, 6 foot propeller, tucker radio, ignition rotor and various hood ornaments in their office?

Actually, has anyone purchased a pre-fab garage? I have looked at those amish ones for about $15k. They look very tempting.

I have had a decklid in our bedroom at the end of my wife and my bed for about 6 months...

I blame apple. I can cruise the board any time from my phone for parts. And as I tell my wife, "If I don't move fast, someone else will" Plus, over time some parts have appreciated in value.
