Daily Car Cover Suggestions?

Here's a good question for you the community.... I know - this has nothing to do with a "technical forum" however, the bulk of crowd hangs in this area and I'll bet you all might be able to help.

My 911 is going to have to spend some time outside while I remodel the kitchen. I currently use a WOLF car cover in the garage - which does great but not intended for EVERYDAY OUTDOOR use.

Would anyone like to offer a suggestion on a really good outdoor car cover? Most nowadays come with a soft lining that block UV rays, rain / elements, etc....

I'd appreciate your feedback.

Thanks!
Lindsey Hunt

My Boxster sits outside under an overhead cover and I tried a couple of third party covers with mixed results the primary issue being the elastic that holds the cover in place on the front and back. Both third party brands elastic lost elasticity in less than a year and they kept blowing off in even a slight wind. I finally bit the bullet and picked up a new Porsche OEM for my Boxster off eBay for less than half the cost from the dealer and have had no issues with it for over a year. The back is a draw string so there is no elastic to deteriorate and the front elastic has not lost any noticeable elasticity. Mine is the outdoor version and is lined with mirror extensions. It will not prevent condensation but so far has kept any moisture from rain and sprinklers out and doesn't blow off from the wind. I'm very happy with it.

Having used an exterior cover fitted for my RX7, the only downside was the flapping under the cover caused by the wind. It whipped the paint and dulled it on the nose of the car. I have since bought a 10x15 pop up canopy with walls for $200 and will use it for the 911 while remodeling my garage for the next month. YMMV.

For my 3.2 I have used a custom fit covercraft for a few years now. The elastic around the front and rear has loosened a bit, but if there is a storm, on the sides there are two loops and I just use an elastic strap on the underside of the car to pull it tight.

Car is dusted before the cover is fitted. I haven't washed my car for over a year and it looks immaculate (with the help of some detailing spray on occasions).

go with a pop-up canopy--something that doesn't come into contact with the car/paint....
