82sc - spring centered clutch - difficulty releasing smoothly from standing stop
all,
i've owned a few sc's and never experirnce the clutch feel in my new to me 82 911sc...it has a spring centered clutch that was installed about 30K miles ago when the engine was rebuilt. **also, the clutch pedal assembly was recently rebuilt using brass bushings by a local reputable seattle shop john walker porsche. i've noticed the clutch release us a bit higher than i'm used to and also grabs differently - sort of more aggressive. difficult to take off from a standing stop w/o a jerkyness or better way to describe it, i have to gingerly release the clutch while increasing RPM's to get a smooth take off. its actually a bit difficult with the higher release point. i only really notice it from a standing stop and not so noticeable or difficult shifting once the car is in 1st gear. any way this can be remedied? Drop the clutch lever and see if the spring arm is free to swivel on the vertical shaft. The long spring arm is suposed to idle on the shaft and will begin to freeze on with corrosion and make pressing the clutch very hard. If the arm comes off, clean and antiseize.
